PRINCE2 Version 7 training for 13 Water Services Corporation project managers
During October 2026, I am currently delivering a PRINCE2 Version 7 course to 13 project managers at the Water Services Corporation (WSC), as part of their continuing professional development. The course is in progress, so this update concerns the training rather than completed assessments or reported project outcomes.
Project management in an essential-service setting
WSC describes its responsibility as covering the complete drinking-water and wastewater cycle in the Maltese Islands.[1] Its published information on water production explains the use of groundwater and reverse osmosis, together with storage, distribution and quality checks.[2]
That operating context makes a useful distinction visible: an organisation must continue delivering its daily services while also managing temporary projects that introduce change. Project governance should help the two coexist. It should not assume that operational work stops while a project team delivers a new product.
Why continuing development matters
For project managers, professional development provides time to examine how decisions are made and how responsibilities are communicated. PRINCE2 offers a structured language for discussing business justification, products, stages and delegated authority.
My aim in explaining the method is to make those concepts usable. A project manager should be able to distinguish an output from a benefit, identify the appropriate decision-maker and explain when a forecast requires escalation. Learning terminology is a foundation for that work, rather than its final purpose.
Keep learning connected to practical judgement
A method needs to be tailored to the project context. The appropriate controls depend on the work, its uncertainty and the people involved. Applying a standard document format everywhere is not the same as exercising sound project management.
The opportunity during continuing professional development is to test understanding and question assumptions. A useful next step for any learner is to identify one management habit to review in their own work, such as acceptance criteria, risk ownership or the clarity of a decision request.
Practice alongside the course
For additional revision, the Mock Question Module 1 – 4 simulator on this website provides two short practice sets with timed attempts and answer explanations. It covers selected modules, not the complete syllabus, and is not an official PeopleCert examination.
I look forward to continuing the course with this group throughout the month. This article does not report participant feedback, examination results or an endorsement by WSC.
